Brigade unveiled Backsense Radar OSD in May 2025, a safety system for industrial vehicles, construction machinery and vehicles operating in demanding environments. The solution combines radar and cameras on a single in-cab display, with the aim of improving driver awareness during manoeuvres and reducing risks linked to blind spots. The radar detects obstacles up to 60 metres away and overlays detection zones directly onto the video images, so the driver does not have to consult multiple screens or separate alerts.
The new equipment is based on artificial intelligence and can recognise pedestrians and other hazards around the vehicle, providing real-time visual and audible warnings. This is a particularly important function for vehicles operating on construction sites, logistics yards, industrial areas and locations where vehicles, ground staff and vulnerable road users are present at the same time. The system includes a five-level audible alert and programmable detection zones. The width of the monitored area can range from 2 to 16 metres, while optional adaptive detection, enabled via GPS, adjusts the detection fields according to vehicle speed. This allows the configuration to adapt to different operating conditions without the need for continuous manual intervention.
Brigade also highlights the flexibility of installation. Backsense Radar OSD supports up to four radar sensors and three camera inputs in AHD or CVBS format. It is also compatible with the Backeye 360 system and with AI-based human form recognition technology, designed to increase the ability to identify pedestrians in the areas around the vehicle. Durability is another key element of the solution. The radar sensors have an IP69K protection rating and operate within a temperature range of -40° to +85°. The system also complies with international standards such as CE marking, UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) Regulation R10 and FCC/IC approvals, factors that support its use in different markets and in fleets with complex compliance requirements. For fleets, the value of the solution lies above all in the ability to intervene on vehicles already in operation. Compatibility with post-production installations allows the system to be applied to mixed fleets made up of vehicles of different ages, configurations and uses.
At Transpotec 2026, Brigade also presented other safety and operational control technologies. These included a new AI side camera which, installed on the side of the vehicle, detects the presence of people in real time within a 15-metre area. The company also showed the Dashcam C6 Lite, an AI-based video solution designed to improve driver safety and fleet visibility.
