Container traffic rises at the port of Trieste
The port of Trieste closed the first quarter with 13.6 million tonnes handled, down 4.25% compared to the same period in 2024. However, container traffic reached a historic high with 237,534 teu moved, up 34.75%, marking the best first quarter ever. March alone recorded 87,837 teu, a 39.34% increase and the highest monthly figure in a decade. Ro-ro containers also rose by 11.30%, general cargo by 14.62%, and ro-ro units by 2.35%. Solid bulk declined slightly by 26.32%, although cereal shipments grew by 12.23% and metallurgical products doubled, rising by 100%.
