Ikea and the Ports of Genoa focus on green corridors
An integrated, efficient and sustainable transport system took centre stage at the workshop From Green Ports to Green Corridors, organised by the Ports of Genoa at the transport logistic event in Munich. Stefan Krattiger, Business Development Leader at Ikea Supply, outlined the multinational’s priorities and the key role of green corridors in reducing the environmental impact of freight transport. Francesco Barontini from PtsClas stressed that such corridors require close cooperation among all players in the supply chain. The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority is investing more than 130 million euros in electrification, photovoltaics, smart grids and last-mile rail connections, aiming to create a greener and more competitive logistics system.
Sogedim strengthens global network in Munich
At the Munich transport logistic trade fair, Sogedim consolidated new international alliances and reinforced relationships with long-standing partners. “We managed up to ten meetings simultaneously,” said Gianmarco Varisco, while COO Valentin Dima described the event as “four intense and strategic days.” Among the offers presented were ADR and refrigerated transport services, supported by the company’s proximity to Malpensa airport. Sogedim is now exploring new collaborations in China and the Americas.
Malpensa Distripark to be completed in 2026
The new Malpensa Distripark logistics hub was unveiled at the Munich trade fair. Developed by FNM and located in Busto Arsizio within the intermodal area of the Lombardy airport, the facility is being built by Sfre and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026. It will include three buildings totalling over 40,000 square metres. At the heart of the project is the Sacconago internal rail terminal, equipped with three 650-metre tracks. Marketed by World Capital Group, the complex will be certified according to ESG standards and will incorporate solutions for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Fercam launches instaFercam
Fercam showcased its vision of integrated and sustainable logistics, driven by technological innovation and social responsibility. The highlight of the event was the official launch of instaFercam, a new digital platform for Full Truck Load services developed in partnership with German company cargomotion. The system offers instant quotes, fast bookings, real-time tracking and integrated document management. CEO Hannes Baumgartner emphasised the goal of enhancing the customer experience by combining speed, transparency and reliability. The platform is already live and available free of charge to all customers.
Open source software for digital consignment notes
The Open Logistics Foundation introduced a ready-to-use open source software solution for managing the digital consignment note (eCmr). Compatible with existing enterprise systems, the software can be downloaded free of charge from the foundation’s repository and used by companies of all sectors and sizes without licensing fees. Successfully tested in 2023 on two routes operated by Rhenus and Dachser, the software has since been implemented in real-world use cases in collaboration with Blue Yonder. Developed and validated by 28 member companies, the project originated from an initiative led by the Fraunhofer IML. Trials indicate time savings of up to 60% along the logistics chain.
FS Logistix unveils new industrial strategy
FS Logistix presented its latest developments to stakeholders and international clients. The new brand, successor to Mercitalia Logistics, aspires to become a European freight forwarder, operating in 22 countries and transporting over 50 million tonnes of goods annually. The 2025–2029 Strategic Plan includes investments totalling 2.16 billion euros, targeting digitalisation, sustainability, terminals and fleet renewal. Among the innovations is the relaunch of the NiK system, which enables non-craneable trailers to be loaded onto rail in just 2.5 minutes, along with a new digital platform for the integrated management of multimodal logistics.
