On 11 February 2025, Gruppo Grendi presented its 2024 results, reflecting significant growth. The consolidated revenue forecast reached 117.6 million euros, a twenty per cent increase compared to the 98 million recorded in 2023. The company attributes this growth to innovation, diversification, and the international expansion of its operations. The largest share of revenue, amounting to 81.3 million euros (up 26 per cent), comes from Grendi Trasporti Marittimi, which transported over 1.25 million linear metres (up 1.7 per cent) and 3.2 million tonnes (up 4 per cent) on its coastal shipping route. The average ship load factor increased by nine per cent, while the average number of teu transported per vessel grew by four per cent.
Grendi is also achieving strong results at the Mito port terminal in the Porto Canale of Cagliari, which in 2024 increased revenue by 6.6 million euros, handling 150,162 teu and 112 ships—double the number from the previous year. Due to its strategic location, this facility is becoming a key hub for connections with North Africa. On the mainland, Grendi organises rail freight services from the Port of Marina di Carrara, transporting over 253,000 tonnes on 126 trains in 2024. A significant portion of revenue, totalling 38.3 million euros (up five per cent), comes from national transport and land distribution managed by MA Grendi, which in 2024 transported 1.6 million quintals.
These results stem from an investment strategy that will continue through to 2026. Over the 2024–2026 period, Grendi has allocated 36.5 million euros to enhance its infrastructure and services, with a particular focus on maritime transport and port terminals, which account for 84 per cent of total investments. In 2024 alone, investments reached 14 million euros. Workforce expansion is also a key priority, with staff numbers increasing to 236, a forty per cent rise from 2023. This was achieved through the internalisation of workers previously employed via cooperatives and the recruitment of seafarers for the company’s own vessel.
Antonio Musso, CEO of Grendi Trasporti Marittimi, stated that "the growth in investment and workforce has contributed to value creation in the past financial year. We have returned to direct ship ownership with the purchase of Grendi Futura and are developing international services for North Africa while strengthening our terminals." Among the main investments of 2024 are the acquisition of a warehouse in Olbia and the expansion of facilities in Cagliari, with a new 100,000-square-metre site. Additionally, the group has secured new concessions at the Marina di Carrara terminal, where a 200-square-metre building will be renovated for operational functions and communal areas.
In terms of sustainability, in 2024 the group obtained Ecovadis certification and initiated the process for B Corp certification, while also preparing for sustainability reporting in compliance with CSRD regulations. Grendi also highlights that women represent 14 per cent of the workforce, with 40 per cent in senior positions and 33 per cent on the board of directors. Employees under 40 years old account for 43 per cent of the total workforce, and in 2024, corporate welfare spending increased by 63 per cent, reaching 383,947 euros—equivalent to 2,355 euros per employee.
2024 also saw the conclusion of "Cosa Faremo da Grendi," Italy’s first logistics web series, comprising seventy-one episodes aired on YouTube and involving over ninety employees. In 2025, the group plans to replace one of its three fleet vessels and expand its international maritime services. New management systems and a customer service review will also be implemented. The year will mark the beginning of the company’s bicentenary celebrations, featuring events dedicated to the maritime sector.
