The Tarros Group begins 2025 with two innovations in land and sea transport. On the railway front, the company has introduced a new connection between the Terminal del Golfo at the port of La Spezia and the Interporto of Padua, with transit through Santo Stefano di Magra. This initiative is part of a broader strategy shared with the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority to promote sustainable and integrated logistics.
The new service, which operates with weekly departures, is an opportunity for development in the Triveneto market, enhancing connections between North Africa and Europe. In early February, operations on the first train arriving from Padua were successfully completed, carrying containers bound for Morocco. Local distribution in Padua will be managed by Carbox, a subsidiary of the Tarros Group, which will employ trucks powered by Hvo biofuel.
Alberto Musso, president and CEO of the Tarros Group, highlighted the importance of rail transport for the company: "Rail transport has always been a core component of our Group. We are proud to relaunch this service thanks to the synergy with the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority and its Extraordinary Commissioner, Federica Montaresi." The latter stated that "intermodality is a key strength for the Port Authority, positioning us at the forefront of national rail transport, with a 34% increase in 2024. At a time marked by major infrastructure works that may reduce rail capacity, the shuttle service between the port and Santo Stefano di Magra remains strategic for the development of intermodal traffic."
On the maritime side, also in early February, the Tarros Group announced an expansion of the Gps service routes, which will now cover the entire company network, from Portugal to Turkey, including Mersin and Lebanon. Six vessels will ensure fixed-day weekly departures, connecting fourteen ports and increasing cargo capacity by over twenty percent. The Tarros Group is resuming operations in Spain thanks to a new agreement with Insignia Shipping, which will act as the designated agent for Iberian trade. The new rotation will also enable the creation of a direct link between La Spezia and Barcelona.
Maria Valentina De Bernardi, Tarros Chief Commercial Officer, explains that "the new version of the Gps, with the addition of Barcelona in the west and the return to Mersin in the east, allows us to expand our commercial offer and strengthen the use of multimodal transport via train, ship, and truck, thanks to full control of the logistics chain. We thank the Cma-Cgm team for their collaboration in bringing this new project to life."
