Waberer’s closes the truck cartel case
Waberer’s International has announced the signing of its final out-of-court settlement with a truck manufacturer, effectively ending its legal battle over the truck cartel. The agreement, signed on 23 June, brings to a close a compensation claim filed in 2017 with the regional court of Munich. With this final deal, the Hungarian company has completed a total of four settlements with various manufacturers involved in the European Commission’s decision of 19 July 2016, which fined Daimler, Daf, Iveco, Man and Volvo/Renault for price collusion. Waberer’s claim concerned the losses it incurred from purchasing or leasing trucks during the period when the cartel was active.

Uotc calls for a rail intermodality agency in Spain
The Unión de Operadores de Transporte Comodal (Uotc), part of Astic, has urgently called for the creation of an Intermodality Agency within the Spanish Ministry of Transport, led by Óscar Puente. The aim is to halt the decline of rail freight, which saw a 19.88% drop in 2024 compared to 2023. Data from the new comodality index also shows a 14.89% decrease compared to the year 2000. Main causes include rising tariffs, infrastructure works and Renfe Mercancías’ loss of market share to private operators without any overall increase in freight volume. Cumulative rail traffic losses reached 32% over the nine quarters ending on 31 December 2024.
