In recent years, the Interporto di Nola has established itself as a crucial hub in the Italian logistics landscape, focusing on intermodality and innovation. 2024 data confirms this positive trend, highlighting significant growth in freight transport operations and a consistent commitment to technological and infrastructural development. Specifically, the Terminal Intermodale Nola, managed by Interporto Campano, recorded an 18% increase in 2024, moving from 59,995 intermodal transport units in 2023 to 70,593 in 2024.
This achievement was realised through the operation of 1,277 trains over the year, with eight weekly rail connections to and from Nola. Destinations include Milan (6 times a week), Piacenza (4), Fiorenzuola (3), Gioia Tauro (3), Ostrava (2), Bari (1), Parma (2), and Turin (1). Simultaneously, road freight traffic remained stable at approximately 5.8 million tonnes in 2024.
According to Lucio Punzo, CEO of TIN, "the Interporto di Nola, with its intermodal terminal, is demonstrating great operational flexibility to seize emerging opportunities. 2024 data confirms that the development process continues as planned by TIN. Since 2023, we have worked to quickly identify intermodal operators willing to conduct business at our Nola terminal. The Interporto di Nola, already hosting major players in the Italian rail market, is now ready to attract international partners and clients genuinely interested in investing in intermodality."
Claudio Ricci, president and CEO of Interporto Campano, adds: "thanks to funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Interporto di Nola is even more digital and interconnected with other Italian logistics and intermodal hubs, as the FVS-Elodie project has commenced with the allocation of ministerial co-financing. This project aims to enhance and improve the digital infrastructure of Italian interports, including Nola. Furthermore, beyond developing core operational activities, primarily rail freight transport and intermodality, we aim to expand the interport area and enhance the existing site."
