Grendi Horizon, the largest vessel in the fleet of Genoa-based integrated logistics group Grendi, has been fully integrated into the regular rotation. Measuring 204 metres in length and offering capacity of 3,000 lane metres, the vessel strengthens freight capacity on domestic routes to and from Sardinia and on international services to Tunisia and Algeria. The service from Marina di Carrara provides five weekly departures to Cagliari and three to Olbia. Grendi Horizon has been chartered for five years from Cantieri Visentini and brings the group’s fleet to five units, following the entry into service in July 2025 of Grendi Star, a 192-metre vessel with 2,800 lane metres of cargo capacity.
The vessel’s name was chosen through a vote involving more than 600 employees and contractors, in line with a practice now well established within the group. The arrival of the new unit brings tangible benefits in terms of transit reliability and regularity of departures, thanks to a broader cruising speed range, said Antonio Musso, chief executive of Grendi Trasporti Marittimi. The vessel also supports volume growth in container and ro-ro traffic and improves the direct service to Olbia, a port handling increasing flows of goods that are strategic for Sardinia, including animal transport during the summer period. Musso also highlighted the benefit of lower emissions intensity per lane metre transported.
