Sogedim is expanding its exceptional transport offering with the launch of its Project Cargo service, developed in partnership with Fortune International Transport. The initiative aims to strengthen its presence in the out-of-gauge and highly complex logistics segment and forms part of the Italian freight forwarder’s growth strategy. Already active in integrated general cargo and overseas solutions, Sogedim is seeking to enhance its ability to manage operations with a high level of technical and organisational complexity.
Project cargo is aimed particularly at sectors such as energy, plant engineering, infrastructure and the green economy, where loads exceed standard limits in terms of size, weight and value. In these contexts, each shipment requires a dedicated project-based approach, built on technical analysis, risk management and multimodal planning. Operations include route studies, integrating road, rail and inland waterway transport, the selection of the most suitable vessels, from break bulk to ro-ro and heavy lift, and the coordination of destination operations through qualified partners.
A key element of the service is control of the various operational phases, from planning to final delivery, including insurance cover. In exceptional transport, the absence of any margin for error makes partner reliability and the ability to manage operational and financial issues decisive. In this context, the collaboration between Sogedim and Fortune is presented as a model capable of combining technical expertise and organisational strength, with the aim of reducing risks and ensuring continuity along the logistics chain. “Experience, capability, knowledge and speed in solving problems are the variables that create real added value in the service,” said Federici.
The initiative comes against a global backdrop marked by growth in major industrial and infrastructure projects, which are generating demand for highly specialised logistics services. In this context, as Sogedim CEO Emanuele Codazzi explains, “Italy is set to become a strategic hub in the Mediterranean for project cargo: a natural platform connecting industry, ports and international rail corridors”.
