First docking at Vado Gateway for the Gemini service with North America
Vado Gateway has welcomed the first docking of the TA6 container line operated by Maersk and Hapag Lloyd as part of the Gemini alliance. The container ship Maersk Memphis, with a capacity of 6,188 TEU and a length of 299 metres, arrived at the deep-sea quay of the Vado terminal. The service connects Tangier, Newark, Norfolk, Baltimore, Charleston North, and Savannah. “The arrival of the first Gemini vessel strengthens Vado Ligure’s role in the international logistics landscape,” stated Santi Casciano, CEO of Vado Gateway.
Portuguese government considers selling 49% of TAP
The Portuguese government is considering selling at least 49% of TAP in a renewed attempt to privatise the national airline, according to sources cited by Bloomberg. The privatisation process is expected to begin in March and conclude by the end of the year or in 2026. Around twelve companies have expressed interest in the operation. Air France-KLM, Deutsche Lufthansa, and IAG, the parent company of British Airways and Iberia, have already signalled their interest in TAP, drawn primarily by its routes to Brazil, the largest among European airlines, as well as its strong presence in Africa and North America.
Mercitalia Logistics strengthens Pomezia and Marcianise terminals
Mercitalia Logistics continues its innovation drive with the installation of four new Cvs Ferrari mobile cranes at the Pomezia and Marcianise terminals. With these investments, the fleet now includes six units in Pomezia and five in Marcianise. The new cranes, equipped with a telescopic arm and capable of lifting up to 45 tonnes, enhance the handling of swap bodies, semi-trailers, and containers, improving efficiency and safety. Beyond operational performance, the renewal also focuses on sustainability, with the new equipment reducing consumption and emissions, contributing to the company’s environmental goals.

Vindome, a platform specialising in wine investments, has announced a partnership with Most, a provider of oenological logistics, to modernise the supply chain for fine wines. The agreement aims to streamline, enhance transparency, and reduce costs in a sector traditionally burdened by complex regulations, high expenses, and significant risks of counterfeiting. Through digitalisation and advanced logistics solutions, Vindome and Most are improving accessibility to fine wines, enhancing traceability, and lowering costs for producers, investors, and restaurateurs.
WestJet Cargo accelerates digitalisation with CargoAi
WestJet Cargo has made its cargo capacity available for booking on CargoAi for general and perishable shipments to all its destinations. The initiative is part of the airline’s digital expansion. Customers can now check real-time availability and rates, as well as book and track shipments through the CargoMart platform and CargoConnect APIs. “Our mission is to connect Canada to the world, including through 24/7 digital channels,” stated Kirsten de Bruijn, WestJet’s executive vice president of cargo. Announced in December 2024, the partnership provides full access to the airline’s cargo network, covering Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
