  • Germany launches plan for low water on the Rhine

    18 Agosto 2026 - The German Federal Ministry of Transport and the Länder have announced a series of measures to address the disruption to inland waterway transport caused by the drought of summer 2026. More rail paths, exemptions for road transport and an alternative waterway route to the Rhine.

  • Ceva suffered a cyber attack at the end of July 2026

    12 Agosto 2026 - A cyber intrusion discovered on 29 July 2026 affected eight Ceva Logistics platforms in Europe, leading to the theft of personal data belonging to customers of companies served by the group. The investigation involves the Dutch data protection authority, with no attribution of the attack so far.

    5 Agosto 2026 - The flow of the Danube has fallen to its lowest level since 1996 across Romania, Hungary and Serbia, halting commercial navigation and forcing the Cernavodă, Paks and Djerdap power plants to cut electricity production, with losses already quantified for Verbund and Edf.

  • P3 acquires logistics site in Rivolta d’Adda

    4 Agosto 2026 - P3, through the Fondo Giano managed by Savills Investment Management Sgr, has acquired 100,000 square metres in Rivolta d’Adda, in the province of Cremona, for a 61,000-square-metre logistics hub, with work due to start in the fourth quarter of 2026.

  • Drought brings northern Europe’s inland waterways to a halt

    4 Agosto 2026 - The Kaub gauge on the Rhine has matched the historic low recorded in October 2018, while Rijkswaterstaat has closed the Eefde locks on the Twentekanaal. Barges are sailing with loads reduced to one fifth of capacity, river freight rates have more than tripled and freight flows are shifting to road and rail.

  • China accelerates its global logistics push

    30 Luglio 2026 - The plan by China’s General Administration of Customs and National Development and Reform Commission provides for the modernisation of 57 border logistics facilities by 2030. Meanwhile, half-year shipbuilding figures show new orders up 173.1% and a global share of 82.3% in deadweight tonnage.

  • Italian logistics real estate grows strongly in mid-July 2026

    30 Luglio 2026 - The Italian logistics and industrial real estate market closed the first half with €1.25bn invested, up 50% year on year, while letting take-up rose to 1.6m square metres, up 72%, driven by third-party logistics operators, according to Jll Italia.

  • New postal customs rules in the United States from July 2026

    29 Luglio 2026 - From 24 July, CBP suspended the customs exemption for low-value postal parcels bound for the United States, imposing ordinary duties, new shipment data requirements and mandatory customs brokerage. A second phase will introduce the electronic transmission of declarations by the autumn.
