Arcese Group announced on 30 January 2025 that Guido Pietro Bertolone will step down from his role as chief executive officer effective 2 February 2025, after a seventeen-year partnership. During this period, Bertolone steered the company through significant strategic transformations. "These seventeen years have been filled with challenges, milestones and successes. I believe the time has come to pass the baton," he stated. "I am proud of the results we have achieved and confident that the group will continue its successful journey. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the Arcese family, particularly to Eleuterio for the trust placed in me and to Matteo with whom I shared this journey."
To ensure operational and strategic continuity, current Executive President Matteo Arcese will assume the role of chief executive officer. "I want to thank Guido for his significant contribution over these years," Matteo Arcese said. "The group's commitment will continue to be distinguishing itself in the market through its broad range of high-quality logistics and transport solutions across the entire supply chain, designed and customised to meet each client's specific needs."
Matteo Arcese is one of the four children of company founder Eleuterio Arcese. His professional journey took a significant turn in 1995 when he assumed the role of Executive President and chief executive officer of Arcese Trasporti. In subsequent years, Matteo expanded his responsibilities within the group. He became vice president and chief executive officer of Ventana Serra Trasporti, a division specialising in maritime and air transport, born from the strategic acquisition of Ventana Cargo. Additionally, he took on the role of general partner of Arcese Sapa holding company, which coordinates the group's global investments.
Matteo Arcese's commitment has extended beyond the company. He became coordinator of the European Affairs commission of the Sustainable Intermodal Logistics Association, where he worked to promote industrial policies aimed at strengthening Italian logistics competitiveness. He has also led social projects such as "Road to New York" and "Discovery Kenya."
