Geotab presented its new Model Context Protocol (MCP) Connector in Rome on 1 July, a tool that provides secure, real-time access to MyGeotab data and the agentic Ace platform directly from ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and other approved artificial intelligence platforms compatible with the MCP standard. The connector goes beyond simple data access. Users can ask questions in natural language, run multi-step workflows and take direct action: creating alerts, scheduling maintenance work, generating reports and developing full applications, without leaving the artificial intelligence tools they already use.
The project is supported by the company’s data base: Geotab processes about 37 trillion data points every year, collected from more than six million connected vehicles in 160 countries, creating one of the world’s largest sets of vehicle and asset data. This information resource is described by the company as its distinctive advantage in the accuracy and timeliness of the insights required by artificial intelligence applications. “High-quality data and information are essential if artificial intelligence solutions are to have a measurable impact on operations,” said Mike Branch, vice-president Data and Analytics at Geotab. Branch added that the level of data intelligence built by the company over more than 25 years is what fleets need to make more accurate operational decisions.
Unlike proprietary AI solutions, Geotab’s MCP connector is based on an open standard. Customers remain free to connect their fleet intelligence to the artificial intelligence platform of their choice, without being tied to a single ecosystem: whether ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or future compatible tools are used, the connection takes place in environments approved by the companies themselves, which therefore retain control over security, privacy and data governance. “Our customers are looking for ways to integrate reliable fleet intelligence into the workflows they already use, not only to get answers, but to carry out concrete tasks,” Branch added, stressing that the connector allows companies to retain control over their artificial intelligence strategy and operational processes.
