Hhla’s container traffic continues to grow
Hamburg terminal operator Hhla posted a 12.5% rise in revenue in the first nine months of the year, reaching €1,331.4 million compared with €1,182.9 million in the previous year. Operating profit rose by 25.7% to €117.1 million and the Ebit margin reached 8.8%. Net profit after tax increased to €34.9 million from €23.1 million in 2024. The figures reflect a 6.7% rise in container throughput to 4.798 million TEU, of which 4.548 million were handled in Hamburg terminals, up 6%. Traffic with North America recorded a marked decline, while flows with the Middle East showed a moderate decrease. These trends were offset by rising volumes with the Far East, particularly China, as well as with South America, Africa and other European ports.

The contract covers the full logistics chain of the team’s racing activities, from routing to carrier selection, from customs procedures to emergency protocols, with the aim of expanding low-emission solutions. From 2026 the operational scope will extend to the Hypercar category of the World Endurance Championship.
Medway opens new terminal in Spain
The three Spanish rail terminals managed by Medway and Extremadura Avante now have a full operating schedule, and the new facility in Navalmoral de la Mata will come on stream in the first half of 2026. Adif delivered the infrastructure in July 2025, closing the development phase following the opening of the Badajoz terminal at the start of 2025 and the imminent launch of the Mérida site by year-end. Navalmoral will be able to handle four trains per day and receive trains up to 650 metres long, although no scheduled services are planned at launch. The company has ruled out integrating the terminal into the line Medway operates for Transitalia and Tramesa between Valencia and Mérida. The two firms say they are in talks with all rail operators to activate new services with origin, destination or transit in the Extremadura region. Covering 12.5 hectares, the Navalmoral terminal can store up to 800 TEU across four levels, with an annual potential of 50,000 twenty-foot units, and is currently connected to the Cáceres–Madrid axis, with a future extension towards Talayuela. Regular operations have so far been confirmed only for Badajoz, where Medway hauls a circular container service between Sines, Badajoz and Seville with a frequency of between four and six days per week. The goal set in the 2023 regional tender remains to reach a total of 18 weekly trains across the three facilities, split between inbound and outbound flows.
Ethiopian Airlines orders six A350s
At the Dubai Airshow, Ethiopian Airlines signed an order for six additional Airbus A350-900s, reinforcing its position as the aircraft’s largest operator on the continent. The agreement, signed by CEO Mesfin Tasew and Airbus Chief Commercial Officer Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, expands the fleet deployed on intercontinental routes. The A350 family is designed to fly up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometres) and features lightweight materials and new-generation Rolls-Royce engines, cutting fuel burn, operating costs and emissions by 25% compared with previous-generation aircraft. All A350s are already compatible with blends containing up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel, with a target of reaching 100% by 2030.
Second 777F freighter for Air One
Air One International Holdings has taken delivery of a 777F freighter for the operations of its UK-based subsidiary One Air, moving forward with its fleet modernisation plan. The 107-tonne aircraft, delivered from Boeing’s Everett facility, is the second added to the managed fleet within three months. It will arrive at East Midlands Airport on 19 November to begin commercial services on the Hong Kong–East Midlands route. Since September Air One has operated four weekly frequencies between Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, strengthening capacity on the Asia–Europe corridor. The company has already completed more than 3,000 wide-body flights, carrying over 300 million kilos of cargo. The addition of the new 777F complements a managed fleet that includes eleven 747Fs dedicated to freight transport. The availability of a second 777F is seen as essential to ensuring service continuity on key Asia–Europe routes. Air One also plans to further expand its capacity with more operationally efficient aircraft.
Cargojet launches transatlantic route
From 1 November 2025 Cargojet will launch a direct, scheduled cargo link between Canada and Europe, with a stop in Liège. The service, initially weekly, will be integrated into Cargojet’s domestic overnight network, enabling seamless connections to major Canadian cargo airports and faster transit times. The new route forms part of the company’s global expansion strategy and provides capacity for urgent shipments along with greater operational flexibility, with the option to increase frequencies depending on demand. The initiative also strengthens access to the European market via Liège, regarded as a strategic hub for intermodality and intercontinental cargo flows.
