On 28 February 2025, Autotrasporti Rutilli and Tea Energia announced an alliance to establish an electric road transport network that will connect eight Italian regions by 2026. The programme, named "La via dell’elettrico," has already commenced with the installation of fast-charging infrastructure in four Italian regions: Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Tuscany. By 2026, the initiative will expand to include Emilia Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, and Lazio, creating a fully integrated zero-emission transport network powered by certified renewable energy.
The project represents a joint investment by the two Mantua-based companies. Autotrasporti Rutilli is focusing on electric mobility by expanding its fleet with zero-emission vehicles, while Tea Energia ensures the supply of GO-certified (Guarantees of Origin) green energy, produced exclusively from renewable sources. All electric trucks involved in the initiative are supplied by Volvo Trucks Italia. “We continue our mission to become one of the most cutting-edge companies in Europe for low-impact freight transport,” said Guido Rutilli, president of Autotrasporti Rutilli. “Our synergy with Tea allows us to offer clients certified green performance. It is significant that two companies from Mantua have come together for such an innovative project, supported by Volvo Trucks Italia vehicles.”
Autotrasporti Rutilli embarked on its transition to electric transport in 2023, when it introduced its first electric truck into its fleet. By 2025, the company will operate a total of 14 electric vehicles: six light-duty trucks capable of covering between 150 and 300 kilometres per day with an intermediate charge, and eight heavy-duty vehicles with a daily range of up to 600 kilometres.
Giovanni Dattoli, CEO of Volvo Trucks Italia, reaffirmed the Swedish company's commitment to the electrification of road transport: “The collaboration with Autotrasporti Rutilli is a source of great pride and enthusiasm. For distribution companies operating in urban and regional areas, transitioning to a sustainable mobility model is a crucial step. Heavy-duty electric vehicles reduce emissions, lower noise pollution, and improve road safety. Together with Autotrasporti Rutilli, we are moving forward on the path to zero emissions.”
