In October 2025, Raben Group had announced its intention to divest its air and sea freight operations by 1 January 2026. According to CEO Ewald Raben, this move is part of a realignment strategy to focus on road transport and contract logistics across 17 European countries. The deal was concluded sooner than expected: on 3 November, Italy’s Sogedim and Poland’s Leman announced the acquisition of the Air&Sea activities in Italy, Germany and Poland respectively. The companies did not disclose the transaction value.
“This acquisition marks an important step towards an even more efficient global expansion of our network,” said Emanuele Codazzi, CEO of the Sogedim Group. “It represents the natural evolution of a long-standing strategic partnership, built on shared values and a common vision. We are proud to combine our expertise in sea and air transport with the know-how of a partner like Raben, in synergy with Leman.”
Sogedim explained that the agreement is part of a broader international strategic cooperation plan based on shared growth, innovation and a joint commitment to quality in processes and customer service. For the Italian company, this represents a key milestone in its international growth, consolidating its position in global air and sea freight forwarding. Based in Mesero, Sogedim is expanding its range of integrated logistics services and strengthening its network along major global trade corridors.
The integration of Raben Italy’s Air&Sea division brings to Sogedim an experienced and highly specialised team with consolidated expertise in maritime and air freight. As noted by Tommaso Franchi, Head of Air & Sea at Raben, joining Sogedim marks an important step that opens new opportunities for cooperation and growth, enhancing the network of services and destinations worldwide.
Simone Morelli, Head of Air & Sea at Sogedim, underlined that the transaction represents a turning point for the company, which aims to strengthen its role in international trade flows and contribute to a more globally connected Italy. The expansion of the Air & Sea division forms part of Sogedim’s long-term strategy to integrate road transport and international forwarding within a single logistics platform.
Founded in 1931, the Dutch logistics operator Raben Group reported turnover of over €2.15 billion in 2024. Its Sea & Air division accounted for 2% of revenues, compared with 65% from road transport (other divisions include Contract Logistics at 13%, Fresh Logistics at 7%, 4PL at 2% and other services at 2%). The group entered the Italian market in 2019 by acquiring a majority stake in Sittam, now operating as Raben Italy.
With strategic locations across central and northern Italy, more than 500,000 shipments per year and a solid network of partners in major global hubs, Sogedim Group—drawing on over forty years of experience in road, sea, air and rail transport—now serves more than 10,000 clients and is increasingly recognised in pan-European and global logistics for its efficient and integrated supply chain management.
