Daimler’s zero-emission logistics
Daimler Truck has launched a fleet of 14 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks to supply its production facilities in Germany. The initiative is part of the “Electrify Inbound Logistics” project, which aims to fully electrify the supply chain serving the plants in Wörth am Rhein, Gaggenau, Kassel and Mannheim. The vehicles, operated by 14 logistics providers, will transport components from across Europe.
Amazon expands cargo fleet with A330-300
Amazon has acquired an Airbus A330-300 from Stratos to convert it into a cargo aircraft, continuing the expansion of Amazon Air. The aircraft, serial number Msn 1359, is 12.7 years old and was previously operated by Corsair International under registration F-Hsky. Delivered in November 2012, it remained grounded at Paris Orly airport from 3 March to 2 July 2025. Now registered as N7019K, it is located at Pinal Airpark in Arizona. Equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, it will be converted for freight operations. With this addition, Amazon Air’s fleet reaches ten A330 freighters, within a total of 96 aircraft.
driveMybox enters the Balkans
Hamburg-based digital container transport platform driveMybox has announced its expansion into southeastern Europe. Following operations in Germany, Italy and Hungary, Greece has now joined the network, extending coverage to Bulgaria and North Macedonia. This marks the launch of driveMybox Greece, a new company created to operate along the Mediterranean corridor. Implementation is underway, with the platform being adapted to local market needs.
Bangladeshi delegation visits Port of Gdańsk
The Port of Gdańsk has hosted a high-level delegation from the Embassy of Bangladesh, led by Ambassador Md Mainul Islam and First Secretary Biswajit Debnath, for a strategic dialogue on bilateral cooperation in the maritime and energy sectors. During the meeting, Polish port officials presented the operations of the facility and its growing role as a logistics hub for Central and Eastern Europe. Discussions focused on the establishment of direct maritime routes between Poland and Bangladesh, potential cooperation between the ports of Gdańsk and Chattogram, and joint projects in LNG infrastructure development, particularly linked to the Gdańsk terminal.
ITS invests 365 million in Long Beach terminal
International Transportation Service has announced a 365 million dollar expansion project for its terminal at the Port of Long Beach. The plan includes filling a basin in the Pier G terminal with approximately 2.5 million cubic metres of dredged material sourced from the port district and Newport Harbor. The work will result in a continuous quay over 1,000 metres long, capable of accommodating two of the world’s largest cargo ships at once. Completion is expected by the end of 2028.
Panama Canal: water levels recovered, traffic lags behind
Although water levels have returned to high and stable levels, the Panama Canal has yet to regain pre-drought traffic volumes. In June, the average number of daily transits remained unchanged from May but was down 14 per cent compared to June 2022. Neopanamax container ship transits have declined since their May peak, while VLGC gas carrier activity remains modest. Bulk ship traffic is up compared to 2024 but still below pre-drought levels. LNG tankers, finally, account for less than one sixth of their transit numbers prior to the water crisis.
