On 10 June 2025, the Ministry of Transport issued the decree of the Central Committee for the Italian Albo Nazionale degli Autotrasportatori (National Register of Road Hauliers) approving the co-financing of four new rest areas for industrial vehicles, following the October 2024 call for proposals. Of the approved projects, two are located in Piedmont, one in Lombardy and one in Emilia-Romagna. The facility in Lombardy will be built in Origgio, in the province of Varese, and is the only one to receive the European “gold” classification, which ensures the highest level of services for both vehicles and drivers, as well as safety standards. The Register will provide co-financing of 520,219 euros, compared to a request of one million euros and a planned investment of 3.45 million euros. The project will be carried out by Airpulman.
The other three facilities fall under the “bronze” category. The two in Piedmont will be built in Tortona, in the province of Alessandria, and in Cuneo. The site in Alessandria will be developed by Autochim, which has budgeted 281,114 euros but will receive only 8,158 euros in co-financing, compared to a request of 84,334 euros. The rest area in Cuneo is being planned by Astra Servizi, which will invest 281,270 euros and has been granted 69,961 euros in co-financing, having originally requested 84,831 euros.
The facility in Parma has been designed by Cepim, which also manages the local freight terminal. In this case, the estimated cost is 3,284,505 euros, and the interport company has secured almost the full amount requested: 929,823 euros in co-financing out of the 985,351 euros requested. Meanwhile, the Register has rejected three projects proposed in Venaria Reale (Turin), Faenza (Ravenna) and San Bonifacio (Verona).
