High-value properties, offices, industrial vehicles, a business and financial relationships: this is the scope of the preventive seizure worth around €53m carried out on 8 September 2026 by the Guardia di Finanza (Finance Police) of Latina, in Italy, against an Aprilia entrepreneur deemed socially dangerous, whose name was not disclosed. The order was issued by the Court of Rome, specialised prevention measures section, at the request of the Public Prosecutor of Latina. The measure is based on declared income that was almost non-existent, despite a high standard of living and substantial assets.
The investigations were conducted by the Aprilia station together with the Nucleo di polizia economico-finanziaria di Latina (Latina Economic and Financial Police Unit). According to investigators, the recipient of the measure had allegedly engaged on a regular basis in illegal economic activities linked to suspected tax and social security offences and the unlawful supply of labour. The mechanism reconstructed through the financial and economic investigations centred on a consortium operating in road freight transport, both on own account and for third parties, at the head of which was the suspect. Prosecutors also allege that the group used cooperatives over time to acquire a significant share of the cargo-handling market serving the main national freight forwarders, resorting to the unlawful supply of labour and unlawfully benefiting from tax incentives reserved for cooperatives. This was compounded by substantial tax credits arising from service contracts that investigators believe were entered into specifically to carry out the fraud.
A second strand of the investigation concerns a joint-stock company, also active in road haulage, for which the entrepreneur is the legal representative. For several years, it allegedly failed to pay VAT and withholding taxes amounting to tens of millions of euros and used non-existent credits for offsetting purposes worth more than €10m, relating to investments in research and development, ecological transition and technological innovation 4.0 that were never carried out. The court has appointed a judicial administrator to manage the assets and companies covered by the measure, in order to preserve the value of the estate, ensure continuity of operations and protect workers’ rights.
