In June 2024, Schmitz Cargobull announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Atlantis Global System, Spain's foremost producer of telematics solutions specialized in cold chain monitoring. This acquisition represents a significant step for Schmitz Cargobull in strengthening its position in the telematics systems sector for refrigerated trailers.
With this move, Ags's real-time refrigeration data control system will be immediately available for all refrigerated trailers produced at the Schmitz Cargobull plant in Zaragoza. Data collected from Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect system will be integrable on the Ags platform, offering customers the ability to access and manage this information in real-time.
Ags will continue to operate as an independent entity within the Schmitz Cargobull group, maintaining its focus on customer service. Rafael del Pino, founder and CEO of Ags, commented positively on the new alliance, stating that "the collaboration represents a significant opportunity to further develop fleet management solutions."
To celebrate this collaboration, the two companies announced a package for Spanish customers, which will include a Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated box, TrailerConnect telematics, and the Ags temperature recorder, installed at the new Zaragoza plant. This package aims to facilitate the adoption of new technologies and improve the efficiency of the cold chain for local customers.
The acquisition of Ags is part of a year of significant milestones for Schmitz Cargobull, including the opening of new offices in Georgia and Kazakhstan, entry into the U.S. market, and a strategic collaboration with Berger.
