Kässbohrer expands its heavy transport offering

Kässbohrer is presenting the new K.SLL P low-bed trailer ahead of Samoter 2026 in Verona, a solution designed for heavy transport and heavy loads. The semi-trailer has been developed in-house to meet the needs of a sector in which manoeuvring precision, load stability, operational speed and regulatory compliance have a direct impact on transport efficiency. The new K.SLL P joins Kässbohrer’s range of low-bed trailers and heavy-duty platforms, a segment in which the company says it has been one of the top two choices in Europe since 2021. The project was developed under the company’s Enginuity principle, described by the manufacturer as a combination of engineering and ingenuity applied to the development of vehicles for heavy transport and oversized cargo.

At the core of the new semi-trailer is the independent pendle-axle suspension system, developed at Kässbohrer’s research and development centres. The system offers 600 millimetres of travel, which the manufacturer says is the highest in its category, allowing the vehicle to adapt to uneven surfaces, tight bends, construction sites, stabilised roads, agricultural terrain and complex routes typical of heavy transport. This feature affects the vehicle’s overall stability and load distribution during the most demanding stages of operation.

The suspension works with a patented progressive hydraulic steering system. According to Kässbohrer, the geometry complies with Ackermann principles for all steering angles from 0 to 60 degrees, with the aim of maintaining correct vehicle alignment and smooth handling during manoeuvres. The manufacturer particularly highlights the K.SLL P’s ability to negotiate bends of more than 90 degrees, an important requirement for access to construction sites, congested urban areas, industrial yards and routes with limited manoeuvring space.

Kässbohrer says the K.SLL P platform has been verified for at least one million kilometres of real-world use through road trials, simulations and tests carried out at the group’s research and development centres and on the manufacturer’s own external test track. The programme covered structural integrity, torsional resistance, durability, load distribution, road stability and vehicle functionality in standard conditions and extreme operating scenarios. Kässbohrer also reports TÜV-Dekra approval under Section 70 for all extended vehicle lengths. Extensions range from 500 to 5,550 millimetres, allowing operators to configure the semi-trailer according to load dimensions while maintaining the required technical compliance for road use.

Dimensional flexibility is another important feature of the new low-bed trailer. The K.SLL P semi-trailer can extend horizontally by up to 5,550 millimetres and laterally by up to 2 x 230 millimetres. This configuration allows it to carry different types of loads, including construction machinery, agricultural and industrial silos, steel components, industrial construction elements and boats. The low loading platform is designed to facilitate the transport of bulky items. Kässbohrer indicates a loading height of 350 millimetres, allowing goods up to 3,650 millimetres high to be transported without additional work or procedures.

Loading and unloading operations have been designed to reduce downtime. The removable gooseneck enables front loading and can be detached in less than 50 seconds. The system uses standard quick connections for the electrical system, air system and hydraulic circuit. This solution simplifies operations in yards and on construction sites, where vehicle preparation speed affects workflow continuity and vehicle availability for subsequent missions.

Load safety is supported by a wide range of lashing points. As standard, the K.SLL P semi-trailer is equipped with 8x2 lashing rings rated at 13.4 tonnes, 4x2 rings rated at 8 tonnes and 3x2 rings rated at 10 tonnes. It also includes sockets for stakes and container locks, while optional equipment includes six pairs of removable 13.4-tonne rings integrated into the loading deck. This equipment broadens the semi-trailer’s field of use by allowing loads with different geometries, weights and securing points to be fixed safely. Anti-corrosion protection completes the technical specification. Kässbohrer applies its own metallisation treatment to the K.SLL P, already used on its low-bed ranges and container chassis. The treatment has been validated with more than 3,800 hours of salt spray testing without the formation of red rust.
