The Finsea and Martras groups, through their joint venture Finmar, have reached an agreement to represent United Global Ro-Ro in Italy. The deal appoints Finmar as general agent on the national market for the carrier, which specialises in the ro-ro transport of finished vehicles, rolling cargo, static cargo and project cargo on mafi trailers. The aim is to promote and develop the company’s services in Italy in support of industrial operators, the automotive sector and the project cargo segment, helping to strengthen the country’s role as a logistics platform in the Mediterranean basin. The commercial contact for both services will be Paolo Iannelli, who will serve as Line Manager.
From the Italian market, United Global Ro-Ro will offer a monthly deep sea service calling at Marseille, Barcelona and Genoa, with connections to the Middle East, initially Jeddah and Jebel Ali. From the latter port, feeder services will operate to Gulf countries, East Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. A fortnightly intra-Mediterranean connection is also planned on the same rotation, calling at Marseille, Barcelona and Genoa and serving destinations in North Africa, including Alexandria in Egypt and Misurata.
“The appointment of Finmar as our representative in Italy is a key step in Ugr’s Mediterranean-focused growth strategy,” explained Tolga Emrah Gezgin, Chief Executive Officer of United Global Ro-Ro, underlining the importance of Italy’s manufacturing base and volumes in the finished vehicles and project cargo segments. For Massimo Marzani, Chairman of Finmar, the agreement consolidates a model of collaboration between shipowners and the market based on complementary expertise and structured commercial development.
United Global Ro-Ro is a joint venture established in February 2025 between Noatum Maritime, a company of the UAE-based Ad Ports Group, and the Turkish operator Erkport. Its fleet includes new-generation vessels such as Ugr Al Samha and Ugr Zakher, built in 2025, with capacity exceeding 7,000 CEU and powered by liquefied natural gas, as well as vessels already in operation such as Al Jubail and Ramhan. The new ships, with a ramp capacity of up to 225 tonnes and a clear height of 5.40 metres, are designed for high and heavy cargo and project cargo, as well as for the transport of standard vehicles.
In 2025 the company launched services between Turkey, France and Spain, operating between Haydarpaşa, Marseille and Tarragona, expanding its footprint in the western Mediterranean. Integration with Noatum’s logistics network and Ad Ports’ infrastructure, in particular the hub at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, enables United Global Ro-Ro to offer an integrated sea-land supply chain for manufacturers, freight forwarders and logistics operators. Against this backdrop, Finmar’s appointment in Italy strengthens the company’s commercial presence in southern Europe and aims to capture automotive and project cargo flows along the Mediterranean-Gulf corridors, in a context of growing competition in ro-ro trades between Europe, Turkey and the MENA region.
