Leitner inaugurated its Customer Service Global Logistics Center on November 8, 2024, in Oppeano, Verona. The facility covers 21,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 10,000 pallets, with an annual handling capacity of 180,000 material movements. Located close to the motorway, railway network, and Catullo Airport, the center will manage shipments worldwide, from the Americas to the Far East. The construction of this center required an investment of five million euros.
The opening of the new center represents a concrete response to the growing need for spare parts and material management, driven by increasing demand and the lack of space at the headquarters in Vipiteno, South Tyrol. “The new logistics center in Oppeano should not be seen merely as a space or technology, but as a way of organizing our processes,” said Anton Seeber, president of the HTI Group. “Our goal is not only to increase work volume but, above all, to enhance our efficiency and sustainability on a global scale.”
Besides the impressive scale and strategic relevance for the company's global development, the new Leitner logistics center focuses on technological innovation. The site is equipped with the modern SAP Warehouse Management system for enhanced traceability and automated logistics processes. Instead of traditional paper and barcode systems, operators use Zebra scanners and printers, ensuring greater efficiency and waste reduction.
Structurally, the warehouse has been designed to the highest standards, featuring high-quality, earthquake-resistant shelving. The goal is to establish a new standard for Leitner, improving data management, optimizing packaging, tracking serial and batch numbers, and separating inbound and outbound processes, including quality control. Looking forward, the company aims to digitize up to 80% of its logistics processes. The center has also been designed with energy efficiency in mind: its exterior roof is equipped with photovoltaic panels to produce energy for the facility.
