Geodis has reached an agreement to acquire Malherbe, a French operator specialising in full truckload and groupage road freight transport. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed. The deal aims to strengthen the Group’s national road transport network in France and to support the growth of activities dedicated to full and partial loads. Completion of the acquisition remains subject to the usual regulatory approvals.
The integration of Malherbe will enable Geodis to increase the density of its network, thanks to strong geographical and operational complementarity. Strengthening the national infrastructure is intended to improve service quality and support development in the agri-food and large-scale retail sectors, which already play a central role in the Group’s customer portfolio. The transaction will place Geodis among the top three operators in the French market for full and partial load road transport, with combined revenues of two billion euros.
Founded in 1953 and headquartered in the Caen area of Normandy, Malherbe operates a dense national network and is also active internationally, serving a diversified customer base that includes agri-food, large-scale retail, specialised distribution, pharmaceuticals, energy, construction and manufactured goods. The company also provides temperature-controlled transport, as well as vehicle rental with drivers and specialised equipment, including high-volume trailers, tippers, feed tankers and abnormal load convoys to France, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland.
In road haulage, Malherbe operates a fleet of 3,500 industrial vehicles, both owned and operated by third-party carriers. Alongside transport, it offers warehousing, inventory management, picking, cross-docking and order preparation, with facilities dedicated to specific product categories. Its corporate structure is characterised by strong decentralisation through regional agencies and an extensive network of operating subsidiaries, including several companies active in different geographical areas across France.
