Betz International exits insolvency with Aventra
6 Agosto 2026 - The Tübingen court has sold historic German freight forwarder Betz International, which has been in insolvency proceedings since 2 April 2026, to Aventra for an undisclosed sum. Most of the roughly 140 jobs have been saved and service continuity has been secured for customers in the automotive, precision manufacturing and logistics sectors.

6 Agosto 2026 - The Fnv Havens trade union has called an eight-hour strike on Friday 4 September in the ports of Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Vlissingen and Terneuzen against a €6.5bn cut to social security planned by the Dutch Government. The action involves about 6,000 members.

Fake licence and lorry’s AdBlue control unit tampered with in Trento
6 Agosto 2026 - The Trento-Monte Bondone local police stopped a Poland-registered articulated lorry near the customs interport. The driver, a Ukrainian national, was driving with a counterfeit licence and an altered engine control unit designed to bypass anti-pollution systems. The driver was reported to the authorities and the vehicle was placed under administrative seizure for three months.

Drone attack and collision with DHL aircraft in Leipzig
5 Agosto 2026 - A drone carrying a suspected device was detected during the night of 5 August near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport. A DHL aircraft that took off shortly afterwards struck an unidentified object and landed in Hannover with damage. Police are investigating possible sabotage.

Il 24 agosto 2026 è morto a 89 anni Klaus-Michael Kühne, uno degli uomini più potenti della logistica europea. Senza figli, aveva destinato l'intero patrimonio imprenditoriale alla Kühne Foundation, che attraverso Kühne Holding controlla il 60,1% di Kühne+Nagel, il 30% di Hapag-Lloyd e oltre il 20% di Lufthansa.
