Novara strengthens its position as one of the main logistics centres in north-western Italy with the approval of the platform project put forward by French firm Aprc, endorsed by the municipal council on 16 June 2025 through an urban planning amendment. The facility will span an area of 531,415 square metres and will include three buildings with a maximum height of 15 metres, totalling 179,000 square metres in surface area, divided into 61,668, 86,585 and 30,772 square metres respectively. These buildings are expected to house four storage units, along with offices and a data centre. To support the facility, road infrastructure will be upgraded with the construction of a large roundabout.
The company behind the proposal is Aprc, based in Lyon and specialised in real estate development for logistics and industrial purposes, which has already completed projects in Italy, in Imola and Chivasso (Turin). According to the documents submitted to the municipality of Novara, the facility could employ up to 920 people, a figure disputed by opposition members of the council, who consider it to be an overestimate. Another point raised by opponents, who voted against the plan, concerns land consumption, although the project includes environmental compensation measures covering up to 80,000 square metres, including the creation of a new park.
