The first two months of 2024 marked a rise in commercial vehicle transits in Germany. According to the Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, based on road toll payments, there was a 2.4% increase in January compared to December 2023 and a 1.5% increase in February compared to January. This represents a recovery after a 3.5% drop in traffic in December compared to November. However, the annual trend remains negative, with heavy traffic in January 2024 down by 1.6% compared to the same month in 2023 and a decrease of 0.8% in February. These figures have been seasonally adjusted and pertain to vehicles with four or more axles, i.e., those subject to tolls.
