In the early hours of 21 November 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., a railway accident occurred on the Racibórz-Kędzierzyn Koźle line, in the Silesian region of Poland, involving two freight trains. The incident resulted in significant damage to both trains and the railway infrastructure, with one of the train drivers, a 52-year-old man, sustaining minor injuries. He has since been discharged from the hospital. Initial reports from Polish media suggest that, near the town of Kuźnia Raciborska, a Freightliner PL train carrying grain experienced the derailment of seven carriages, which subsequently overturned and were struck by a second train operated by Pkp Cargo, travelling in the opposite direction. The collision has caused disruption to the section of the Racibórz-Kędzierzyn Koźle line between Bierawa and Nędza, which could remain closed for several days.
