Daimler Truck and Kawasaki Heavy Industries have allied to jointly develop liquid hydrogen refueling solutions for European road transport. The two companies announced the memorandum of understanding on June 12, 2024. This initiative includes the entire supply chain, from transportation to large-scale hydrogen storage.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries has been developing various technologies needed to create liquid hydrogen supply chains, including liquefaction plants, carriers, and storage tanks. The European market is currently the largest in the world, with Germany leading the way. Daimler Truck, on its part, is testing electric industrial vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells, which ideally should be produced from renewable and cost-effective sources.
