Lufthansa Cargo launches direct flight from Vietnam to the USA

With the introduction of the winter schedule, Lufthansa Cargo unveiled a significant new cargo route between Asia and North America. On Sunday, October 27, 2024, flight LH8019 departed from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, bound for Los Angeles, marking an important milestone for the carrier's transpacific operations. The aircraft, identified as D-AALO, had previously departed from Frankfurt on October 26, landing in Vietnam before continuing its journey to California's coast.

This new connection, operated by the joint venture AeroLogic, has been designed to meet the growing demand from Vietnam's rapidly expanding economy. "This new cargo link underscores our commitment to connecting economies, addressing the needs of a fast-growing economy like Vietnam, which can now be connected more quickly to the United States," explained Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo. "This service strengthens our goal of fostering global trade, which is why we continue to explore opportunities for new routes and growth in dynamic markets."

With the new schedule, Lufthansa Cargo now offers its customers 89 weekly connections with Boeing 777F aircraft worldwide, including 50 flights to 17 destinations in Asia, reflecting the strong demand in the region. E-commerce, in particular, is driving this growth, which Lufthansa Cargo can accommodate swiftly and flexibly thanks to advanced planning. Additionally, with its A321 freighter fleet for short and medium-haul routes, and the extra cargo capacity provided through partnerships with Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, and SunExpress, Lufthansa Cargo is able to offer capacity to over 350 destinations in 100 countries with the winter flight schedule.
