Trans.eu Group announced on 23 January 2026 the launch of SafePay, a new payment guarantee service designed to strengthen financial trust between hauliers, freight forwarders and shippers, while improving the availability of transport capacity along Europe’s east–west economic corridor. The service is integrated into the group’s digital freight exchange and has been developed in response to market volatility and the structural challenges affecting road freight transport across the continent.
The service addresses one of the sector’s main sources of inefficiency: the risk of non-payment or delayed settlement, which often leads hauliers to avoid working with unfamiliar or foreign counterparties. This dynamic reduces vehicle availability, particularly on high-demand routes linking western Europe with eastern European countries, which are currently among the most dynamic regions in terms of production and logistics.
According to the group, a significant share of the volumes handled on the Trans.eu platform originates from markets such as Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The growth of these economies has generated new freight flows, but the lack of an established payment history and the perceived risk of insolvency have limited the full potential of these routes, with direct effects on revenues and supply chain efficiency.
SafePay seeks to address this issue by offering carriers a payment guarantee for transport orders accepted via the platform. In the event of non-payment by the contracting party, the carrier can request reimbursement by submitting standard documentation, including the VAT invoice, transport order, travel documents and proof of delivery. Claims can be submitted electronically at any time, directly within the Trans.eu system, once both parties have confirmed the transaction.
The model operates on a pay-on-claim basis, with no upfront costs, subscriptions or activation fees for carriers. For freight forwarders and shippers, the SafePay icon displayed alongside a freight offer serves as a signal of reliability, as the service is reserved for companies that have undergone a verification process. It is nevertheless possible to request SafePay independently.
The Trans.eu platform connects more than 41,000 active customers and over 125,000 verified users across Europe, with around 9.5 million freight offers published each month. Specialising in international traffic between western and eastern Europe, the platform integrates counterparty rating systems and digital tools for the secure management of transport operations.
