The unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, and Uiltrasporti have declared a 48-hour strike for all personnel in freight transport (including road haulage), logistics, and shipping to push forward negotiations for a national contract. The strike will take place on Monday, December 9, and Tuesday, December 10, 2024. In a joint statement released on the afternoon of November 12, the three unions explained that "the negotiations have been abruptly interrupted due to the intransigent positions of employer associations, who are unwilling to seek a fair and positive solution for the affected personnel, particularly regarding working hours, social clauses for traveling staff, health and safety, reducing job insecurity, and road haulage." The statement concluded by noting that "in a sector employing a million workers and contributing about 10% of the country's GDP, this wealth must also be redistributed to support workers, ensuring stable and good employment, improving workplace safety, aligning wages with the inflation losses of recent years, and enhancing the balance between work and personal life."
