Cts H2 and Sum introduced the H2 Cargo Bike project at the Green Logistic Expo 2024 in Padua, unveiling the first hydrogen-powered cargo bike designed for urban last-mile delivery. Co-financed by EIT Urban Mobility, the project aims to promote hydrogen-powered vehicles as replacements for traditional solutions, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions. The key vehicle in this project is the Sum X, a cargo quadricycle featuring an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber frame, capable of carrying loads up to 250 kilograms. The bike's power system relies on hydrogen fuel cells, with hydrogen stored in interchangeable cylindrical cartridges, eliminating the need for fixed refueling stations. This technology allows for an operational range of eight to ten hours per day. The project is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
