Leviahub and Pionira have launched a collaboration aimed at accelerating the adoption of the electronic consignment note eCMR in the European transport and logistics market. The agreement focuses on the development and rollout of interoperable digital solutions that comply with the European Union regulatory framework, with a direct impact on document management processes along cross-border supply chains. The initiative forms part of the sector’s structural transformation, in which digitalisation, traceability and regulatory compliance are operational requirements for access to the single market and for business continuity.
The European regulatory context has set a clear direction in recent years. With EU Regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information flows, known as eFTI, and with the Additional Protocol to the CMR Convention, the electronic consignment note has been granted full legal validity and placed on an equal footing with the paper document in all Member States. Public authorities are now required to receive and verify transport information in digital format, supporting the transition towards an interoperable, paperless logistics ecosystem. For transport and logistics companies, this shift involves not only formal regulatory compliance but also the ability to operate efficiently along increasingly integrated European corridors.
Against this backdrop, the collaboration between Leviahub and Pionira is designed to make already operational, Europe-wide scalable solutions available to the market. Pionira, founded in 2009, was among the first companies to develop an eCMR solution and is now one of Europe’s leading players in the digitalisation of transport documents. Since 2019, the platform has recorded more than 50,000 active users and over 10,000 connected companies across the European Union, according to figures released by the company. Its solutions are used daily along the main continental logistics corridors and represent the platform with the highest number of active installations in Europe.
Pionira’s technology is integrated with the most widely used TMS and ERP systems, as well as with vehicle on-board systems, enabling the digital management of a complex ecosystem of transport and logistics documents. In addition to eCMR, the platform supports the handling of proof of delivery, electronic identification documents, ADR documentation, waste management processes and customs procedures. The aim is to enable end-to-end verification of administrative processes, improving data quality and operational control across the entire supply chain.
Leviahub contributes to the partnership with expertise in the development of integrated, certified digital platforms, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and system interoperability. By bringing the two organisations together, the initiative aims to offer transport and logistics companies a proposition aligned with European regulatory developments and with the operational needs of a market characterised by increasingly tight delivery times and complex cross-border flows.
