The Contship Italia Group has announced the acquisition of Sts, a Genoese firm active in the customs brokerage sector. Through this move, Contship consolidates its vertical integration strategy, enhancing its offer of high-value logistics solutions for national and international customers. The addition of Sts represents a further step in the development of an increasingly comprehensive logistics ecosystem, capable of combining infrastructure, operational expertise and specialist services along the entire value chain.
Thanks to the integration of Sts, Contship will now be able to provide a full suite of customs services, ranging from assistance and consultancy on national and European regulations, including Cbam, to the operational management of import and export procedures, services for Authorised Economic Operators, and customs inspections and audits. These services will complement those already offered by the Group through its subsidiary Rail Hub Milano, allowing for greater operational coherence and new opportunities for collaboration across functions and platforms.
For Contship, this marks another step in the creation of a seamless logistics chain, where the customs component becomes a strategic and enabling factor for customer competitiveness. This was emphasised by Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of the Group, who stated that Contship’s mission is to support its global partners with effective, integrated solutions, and that the cultural alignment with Sts, based on a strong customer focus, will be a key asset in tackling the challenges of international markets together.
Founded in 1985 in Genoa, Sts boasts solid experience in the customs sector, built on three pillars: technology, expertise and people. The company is known for its consultative approach and its ability to simplify bureaucratic procedures, reduce customs clearance times and proactively manage potential issues. In addition to consultancy services, Sts is also involved in the direct management of bonded warehouses and port services. Its widespread presence in the main Ligurian ports and its operational links with terminals across the European Union and third countries enable it to operate effectively on a global scale, establishing itself as a trusted partner for leading freight forwarders in Genoa and throughout the country.
Following the closing of the acquisition, Sts’s partners will join the new Board of Directors, ensuring continuity in management and smooth integration with the Contship Group’s structure. Alberto Casu, one of the partners, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, describing it as a growth opportunity within a solid organisation, where decades of experience can be fully valued and the company can continue delivering excellent service. Andrea Capodici highlighted the strategic importance of having a presence in Ligurian ports, noting that customs operations lie at the heart of Sts’s business and that its global network of connections forms the foundation of the trust it has earned among freight forwarders and logistics operators.
