With the official presentation in Rome of the new FS Logistix brand and the intermodal digital portal fslogistix.com, a major transformation project has begun for the freight division of Ferrovie dello Stato Group. The initiative, a key part of the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, was presented in the presence of Sabrina De Filippis, chief executive officer of FS Logistix, Antonio Brunacci, director of strategy and Tid for the company, and Leopoldo Destro, Confindustria delegate for transport, logistics, and the tourism and culture industries. The digital platform is the first operational component of the plan.
The new platform serves as a single interface designed for both national and international customers, capable of managing the entire logistics chain in an integrated way by combining rail, road, and maritime transport, all with a customer-centric approach. Through the website, users can access customised solutions backed by end-to-end traceability and a strong focus on sustainability. At the heart of the platform is an interactive widget that allows users to send a transport request directly to FS Logistix by filling out just a few fields, initiating a digital process that guides the customer from the initial query to the final solution.
The launch of the FS Logistix brand marks a shift in FS Group’s strategic direction. Operating in 22 countries, with seven active companies and over 50 million tonnes of freight moved each year, the new entity builds on the experience of Mercitalia Logistics and looks to the future with a European outlook. As highlighted by Sabrina De Filippis, FS Logistix aims to become a hub of interconnection for all logistics operators, fostering new partnerships and promoting the best of Italian and European expertise. The Group’s ambition is to position itself as an international freight forwarder.
FS Group’s development plan includes a total investment of €2.16 billion, earmarked for fleet renewal, terminal upgrades, and process digitalisation. Planned measures include the introduction of new electric and shunting locomotives, the purchase of next-generation freight wagons, the launch of an environmentally friendly ship for ferry services across the Strait of Messina, and the implementation of digital solutions to improve the efficiency of all operational phases.
