Amid growing emphasis on environmental sustainability, the aviation industry must reduce greenhouse gas emissions without compromising efficiency and reliability. Against this backdrop, the logistics group Rhenus has announced its participation in Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel programme. This initiative involves the use of biofuel derived from renewable sources such as waste oils and agricultural residues. Alongside its investment in SAF, Rhenus provides advanced tools to support its customers in monitoring and managing CO2 emissions. For example, the Emission Dashboard enables precise tracking of emissions generated across different modes of transport, offering clear and accessible data to support more informed decision-making.
Complementing this is Rhegreen, an innovative system that evaluates fuel consumption and the efficiency of various aircraft models, enabling route optimisation and the selection of more sustainable transport options. “The SAF project is the cornerstone of low-emission air cargo transport for the future and helps us meet environmental targets while maintaining the efficiency and reliability our customers rely on,” said Frank Swart, Head of Sustainable Air Freight Product Development at Rhenus Air & Ocean.
