Hydrogen truck at Malpensa
For the first time, a hydrogen-powered truck has been deployed in the normal airport logistics flows at Milan Malpensa Cargo City. On 6 October 2026, Gruber Logistics announced that it had used a fuel-cell heavy goods vehicle to make deliveries to Bcube Air Cargo and Alha, after entering the airport’s Pass4Core secure truck parking area. The articulated truck was integrated into operational and digital processes through the Smart City flows used to manage shipments and deliveries. The initiative, carried out by the South Tyrolean transport company with the support of SEA Milan Airports and Edison, is therefore intended to test the use of hydrogen under real operating conditions rather than as a simple demonstration. The truck stems from the experience gained by Gruber Logistics and Scania in the European Zefes project, dedicated to testing zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles in long-distance transport. At Malpensa, the trial is also linked to the European Olga project, funded under Horizon 2020 and focused on decarbonising the airport sector. SEA is involved in activities relating to energy and hydrogen, while Edison is developing a project for a green hydrogen production and distribution hub at the airport, close to the Truck SafePark. The aim is to produce hydrogen directly within the airport area in the future and refuel vehicles used for services connected with the airport. The trial therefore makes it possible to test the technology operationally ahead of the availability of the refuelling infrastructure.
Contships orders feeders in China
Contships Logistics is launching a fleet renewal programme in China that could include up to 30 feeder containerships. Its subsidiary CLC Newbuildings has signed a letter of intent with Hubei Guangji Green Energy Shipbuilding Group for the construction of ten vessels of around 1,300 teu, with options for another 20 ships divided into two series of ten. Financial details of the agreement and delivery schedules have not been disclosed. If all the options are exercised, the programme will involve more new vessels than the 27 ships currently making up the company’s fleet. The containerships will be built to the ContshipMax CV1300 design, developed by Contships together with the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute. Each vessel is expected to have a capacity of 1,324 teu and will be equipped with 340 reefer plugs for transporting perishable and temperature-sensitive goods.
Webfleet expands Mobito agreement
Webfleet has expanded its partnership with Mobito to make data generated by connected vehicles more easily accessible and usable in mobility and transport applications. Under the agreement, Mobito becomes a commercial partner and exclusive reseller of a selection of Webfleet datasets, making them available to companies, city authorities, road authorities, infrastructure operators and technology providers. The data may be used for applications including transport and traffic analysis, urban planning, mapping and monitoring road conditions. The agreement therefore extends the use of information collected by vehicles beyond the management of individual fleets. Mobito also aims to integrate these data into customers’ processes and combine them with other mobility datasets, with potential applications in the analysis of electric vehicles, road safety and the main routes used for deliveries. The shared datasets will be aggregated and anonymised, and the two companies plan to implement data-management measures designed to prevent individual drivers, vehicles or customers from being identified. Services for existing Webfleet Data Solutions customers will continue during the transition: Webfleet will keep supplying the core datasets and supporting their delivery, while customer management and commercial relationships will gradually move to Mobito.
Logicor refurbishes Sordio logistics hub
Logicor has completed the refurbishment of a logistics hub covering around 23,000 square metres in Sordio, in the province of Lodi, leasing it under a long-term agreement to a pan-European operator specialising in goods delivery and logistics. The property is located 25 kilometres from Milan at the intersection of the SS9 Via Emilia, the A58 Tangenziale Est Esterna and the A1 Autostrada del Sole, with connections to Linate and Orio al Serio airports. The site was acquired through the Mazer fund, managed by Kryalos SGR. The redevelopment included the reconfiguration of the loading infrastructure, which now comprises nine HGV loading bays, three ground-level doors and 58 van bays, as well as an extension of the office areas with a new ground floor and mezzanine. Energy-related measures include LED lighting, a 550 kWp photovoltaic system currently under construction and infrastructure for charging electric vehicles. These works are intended to achieve a BREEAM In-Use Excellent certification. The project forms part of Logicor’s Italian portfolio, which exceeds 2.1 million square metres across Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. The company is also pursuing refurbishment and development projects, with particular attention to the Pomezia area south of Rome.
