After announcing at the 2025 Trimble Insight Europe annual event in Amsterdam that it planned to introduce artificial intelligence agents, Transporeon confirmed at the 2026 edition, held in Brussels on 22 and 23 September, that it has now done so, updating its entire portfolio of transport solutions so they can integrate with its digital products, starting with Trimble Arc Agent. The new features cover market analysis, procurement, planning, execution, visibility, loading bay and yard management, and transport cost verification.
The starting point is the amount of time logistics operations spend on repetitive human tasks, constantly switching between functions and programmes that are not connected, such as email and documents. Trimble Arc Agent handles recurring tasks directly within compatible Transporeon products, as well as in the email and management systems already used by companies. It asks for human confirmation for operations that require it and enables users to monitor processes managed with the support of artificial intelligence and trace the reasoning behind decisions. Bernhard Schmaldienst, Associate Vice President Transporeon Products at Trimble, explained that in road freight transport, artificial intelligence is useful only if it takes account of the tools being used, the people using them and the data they work with, connecting products, processes and data across the entire transport flow.
The Market Insights (Spot Rate on Demand) function allows operators to broaden their road freight rate benchmarks and compare them with the market. A digital assistant makes it possible to query data using natural language and prepare draft analyses for individual lanes, known as Lane Briefs, or for the market as a whole, known as Market Summaries. For carrier sourcing, NextGen Freight Procurement for Road replaces traditional full truckload and less-than-truckload tenders managed with software such as Excel with a structured and connected process. AI-assisted request-for-quotation preparation turns raw lane and pricing data into a tender ready for validation, while flexible bidding modules bring even the most complex rate structures onto the platform. Enhanced Autonomous Procurement, meanwhile, provides a single workflow for spot procurement within a closed network of selected carriers, combining quote collection with AI-generated offers. When automation cannot find a suitable solution, it moves the request to the quotation collection stage, allowing the shipper to proceed with transport allocation.
On the operational side, Transport Planner is being introduced in a new standalone version designed for high volumes and complex plans, from repeated collection runs to transport operations subject to multiple capacity constraints. Transport Execution products can now interact with AI agents: users can retrieve and update transport data and initiate actions using natural language. With the new Autonomous Execution function, agents can take over recurring tasks such as carrier reminders and document requests. In maritime shipping, Maritime Intelligence adds real-time alerts to Ocean Visibility, drawing on multiple sources covering maritime traffic, ports, weather conditions and the geopolitical environment, so that potential critical issues can be identified immediately.
The third area connects loading bay and yard management, delivery documentation and cost verification with transport execution. Supplier Collaboration turns static purchase orders into Living Purchase Orders, dynamic orders that incorporate supplier changes into transport and yard management plans before the vehicle departs. Advanced Trailer Orchestration replaces manual yard monitoring with a real-time updated map and activity queues arranged by priority, while eDelivery Note digitises delivery documents and speeds up invoicing. Finally, Freight Audit SelfService (Fass) compares electronic invoices with data from completed transport operations and uses artificial intelligence to identify and analyse discrepancies, helping shippers monitor freight expenditure and manage payments in line with evolving European requirements.
Trimble Insight Europe also presented awards to companies that had distinguished themselves through innovation in transport and logistics processes. Fercam received the AI Quote Leader award for the second consecutive year for its use of artificial intelligence in transport quotation. Jalna Afridi, Head of Innovation at the South Tyrol-based company, explained that the business does not adopt new technologies simply to follow trends, but to make logistics simpler, faster and more transparent for customers, carriers and internal teams.
Transport Planner, Transport Execution, Supplier Collaboration, Freight Audit SelfService, Autonomous Procurement, NextGen Freight Procurement for Road and Market Insights (Spot Rate on Demand) are already available to customers. Maritime Intelligence has been released in an initial version, while additional features, including information on ports and weather conditions, are expected by the end of 2026. The commercial release of Advanced Trailer Orchestration and eDelivery Note is scheduled for October 2026.
