On 31 January 2025, the Uzbek Migration Agency announced that some of its representatives had met with a delegation from the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at facilitating the recruitment of Uzbek nationals by Lithuanian firms. The agreement also covers the transport sector, as it outlines the establishment of training centres in Uzbekistan for industrial vehicle drivers and mechanics. These centres will be managed in collaboration with Lithuanian haulage companies Girteka and TVG. The first phase of the programme will involve training two hundred individuals, who will then be sent to Lithuania. Girteka has also announced the opening of an office in the Central Asian country.
