The new train has a capacity of up to 36 loading units: trailers, swap bodies and containers (bulk and tank). According the company (controlled by Italian railway company Trenitalia) this route will be used mostly for transporting vehicle components, chemical products and consumer goods. TX Logistik will perform traction and marketing. "We are providing the first non-stop connection between these two important business locations," explains Norbert Rekers, TXL's Regional Sales Director for Central Europe.
The train takes about 20 hours to cover the distance of around 900 kilometers and this new connection has three round trips a week. The deadline for cargo at the DUSS terminal in Leipzig is 9 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Units are provided at Quadrante Europa Terminal in Verona from 5 o'clock on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays. In the opposite direction, units can be delivered in Verona up to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11:30 am on Saturdays. Goods are provided in Leipzig from 5 am on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays. TX Logistik plans to increase the number of round trips to adjust to growing demand.
