Officers from the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Pisa, acting on a mandate from the Procura della Repubblica presso il Tribunale di Pisa (Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Pisa), have concluded an investigation into the bankruptcy of a company operating in the road haulage and logistics sector and headquartered in Santa Croce sull’Arno, in the province of Pisa. The investigation focused on the causes of the insolvency and the conduct of the directors in the period leading up to the bankruptcy declaration. Investigators have not disclosed the name of the company or the individuals under investigation.
The inquiry, carried out by the Nucleo di Polizia economico finanziaria di Pisa (Economic and Financial Police Unit of Pisa), aimed to reconstruct the events that led to the company’s insolvency. According to investigators, over the years the business accumulated tax and social security debts, as well as liabilities towards suppliers, exceeding €500,000, ultimately reaching a state of clear insolvency. Based on the evidence gathered, the de jure and de facto directors, an Italian and an Albanian national, allegedly organised a plan to remove the company’s accounting records rather than initiating formal insolvency proceedings. As a result, the court-appointed receiver was unable to reconstruct the company’s assets and business transactions.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the de facto director and the nominee director were reported to the judicial authorities for fraudulent bankruptcy involving documentation. The de jure director also faces charges of simulating a crime and making false statements regarding personal identity to a public official.
