While several electric and autonomous truck start-ups are struggling or have even closed down, Sweden’s Einride continues to thrive, pursuing both technical and commercial development. On 1 October 2025, the company closed a new funding round worth around 100 million dollars (approximately 94 million euros), which lifts its valuation above one billion dollars — more than double the 400 million recorded in 2021. In a corporate statement, Einride confirmed the participation of both existing and new investors, including EQT Ventures and a global asset manager based on the US West Coast, along with a strategic investment from Ionq to explore quantum applications for logistics optimisation.
The fundraising follows a year of sustained growth in which Einride claims to have more than doubled sales in 2024 and strengthened relationships with major clients in Europe and North America, while also entering Austria and the United Arab Emirates. According to CNBC and Di Digital, the company’s 2024 revenues reached around 500 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to about 52.3 million dollars (48.5 million euros), compared with 222 million the previous year — an increase of 125%.
Founded in 2016, Einride has gradually shifted its focus from developing a proprietary vehicle – a programme that still continues – to an integrated system combining electric trucks supplied by manufacturers such as Scania, charging infrastructure, and the Saga software platform for managing electric and autonomous freight mobility. This turnkey approach has been adopted by multinationals including GE Appliances, Mars, PepsiCo and Heineken in multi-country projects launched between 2021 and 2024, aimed at cutting emissions by up to 95% compared with diesel vehicles, depending on network and charging mix.
Operationally, in May 2024 Einride launched the largest electric and autonomous freight mobility programme in the Middle East in partnership with DP World at the port of Jebel Ali. The initiative involves one hundred connected electric vehicles and autonomous driving scheduled for 2025, with a target of up to 1,600 container movements per day and annual CO2 savings of up to 14,600 tonnes at full capacity. In September 2025, the company also completed the world’s first cross-border trip by a cabless autonomous electric truck, travelling from Sweden to Norway for Postnord. The operation integrated advance digital goods declaration with Norway’s Digitoll customs system as part of the European MODI project.
In terms of corporate governance, in May 2025 founder Robert Falck moved to the role of Executive Chairman, while Roozbeh Charli was appointed Chief Executive Officer to lead the company through a phase of industrial scale-up. A potential future listing, likely in the United States, is already under consideration by the board. The company said the new capital will be used to scale up the commercial deployment of its autonomous solutions, strengthen its technological platform, and support expansion with clients in both established and new markets.
The investor profile reflects a mix of growth capital and strategic partnerships. EQT Ventures, already a shareholder, described Einride as “an integrated transport ecosystem”, while Ionq’s participation aims to explore the use of quantum computing for large-scale planning and routing challenges – areas where the combination of electrification, automation and software optimisation could significantly impact operating costs and service reliability.
