Britta Weber took over as CEO of Hupac Group on 1 July 2026, succeeding Michail Stahlhut. Her appointment was announced by the Board of Directors on 18 February, and during the transition months operational management was entrusted to the two deputy CEOs, Benedetta Masciari and Alessandro Valenti, together with Bernhard Kunz, delegate of the Board. Weber, a 42-year-old German executive, spent her first working day between Chiasso, the group’s headquarters, and the Busto Arsizio terminal, which she described as a key hub for Hupac’s development. There, 220 employees handle 350,000 road consignments a year shifted onto rail, the core business of the company’s north-south transalpine traffic. This process has lost momentum in recent years, with rail’s market share declining. Reversing this trend and winning back ground from road transport is the objective the new CEO has set for the coming years.
Hans-Jörg Bertschi, chairman of the Board of Directors, also took part in the visit. He welcomed Weber’s arrival, highlighting her more than 20 years of international experience in customer logistics, innovation and digitalisation. In her first weeks in the role, Weber has chosen to focus on customers and terminals. Among the stops already on her agenda is Milano Smistamento, the terminal east of Milan currently under construction, which in her view will complete the existing network by strengthening its resilience and ability to respond to disruption.
Weber, the fourth CEO in Hupac’s almost 60-year history, graduated in law from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, passing the second state examination in law with distinction in 2011. In 2016 she qualified as a transportation manager and continued her studies with a GMBA at Macquarie University in Australia. Before joining Hupac, Weber built her entire career at UPS, which she joined in 2007 while still a university student, starting out in a blue-collar role.
Over the following 18 years, she completed seven transfers across different functions and countries, initially moving within Human Resources. She served as HR director for UPS’s business in Eastern Europe, worked on the HR integration of UK company Polar Speed and, between 2016 and 2020, oversaw the HR function for six legal entities in Germany with more than 20,000 employees. From June 2020, she led UPS operations in Switzerland and Austria as managing director, before taking charge of UPS Italy, based in Milan, from May 2021 to March 2023. This was followed by an 18-month move to Atlanta before her return to Germany in October 2024 as vice-president of UPS Healthcare for Europe and Asia, a role she held until her move to Hupac.
