Xca, the joint venture established by the Arcese and Conti groups, completed in November 2025 the acquisition of the Autotrade & Logistics business unit that runs Il Faldo, one of Europe’s largest automotive logistics platforms located in Collesalvetti, in the province of Livorno. The deal aims to link the Livorno hub with the activities Xca already operates in the port of Vado Ligure, where the company works through the Vehicle Logistic Vado joint venture in an equal partnership with Fratelli Cosulich.
The Il Faldo compound covers 700,000 square metres and offers a maximum storage capacity of 32,000 vehicles. Positioned just nine kilometres from the main quays of the port of Livorno, the facility includes areas for vehicle handling and preparation, as well as an internal rail connection able to accommodate two trains simultaneously. The site provides a full range of services including Pre-Delivery Inspection, bodywork, workshop operations and customs procedures. Early results of the industrial plan have already materialised: in November 2025, Xca handled the discharge and landside logistics of more than 1,100 Dongfeng vehicles at the port of Livorno.
The transaction brings a solution to the crisis affecting Autotrade & Logistics, part of the Koelliker Group and former manager of Il Faldo. The first signs appeared in October 2024, when the company entered a “negotiated crisis resolution procedure”. By January 2025, rumours of Xca’s interest had emerged, later confirmed at a regional meeting on 17 March 2025, when the final stage of negotiations was announced. The acquisition by Xca, effective since May 2025, marked a turning point for the local area, although it involved a reorganisation of the workforce, starting with around forty initial lay-offs among subcontractors and further redundancies.
Xca was founded in 2023 through the partnership between the Conti family and the Arcese Group. The Conti family brings more than sixty years of experience in vehicle transport, a business that began in 1970 with the export of Peugeot models manufactured in France and destined for the Maghreb. The Arcese Group, established in 1966 in Riva del Garda, operates globally in integrated logistics.
