Fuso Italia Spa has been established following an equal-share agreement between Maurelli Holding Spa and Vfm Enterprise Spa, the latter linked to Gruppo Telese. From 1 October 2026, the new company will become the official distributor of the Fuso brand in Italy, taking over from Daimler Truck Italia in the management of new vehicles, original spare parts and service contracts on the national market. The financial terms of the agreement between the two shareholders have not been disclosed. The deal is part of the reorganisation through which Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (Mftbc) - a Japanese manufacturer ranked among the world’s top ten and present in more than 170 markets - is reshaping the distribution of the Fuso brand in Europe. The reorganisation follows the integration of Daimler Truck and Toyota’s operations in the Japanese industrial vehicle sector into the new entity Archion, which brings together the Fuso and Hino brands.
Fuso Italia has been created as a company entirely dedicated to developing the brand, with its own organisation and independent management, and will be able to draw from the outset on the facilities, expertise and territorial presence of its two shareholder groups. Eduardo Maurelli has been appointed chief executive, while Edoardo Gorlero will chair the seven-member board of directors, made up of representatives of the two shareholders. “The Canter is the benchmark in its segment and, with the eCanter, it already represents the future of zero-emission urban distribution,” Maurelli says. “From 1 October we will be fully operational to support customers, fleets and dealers in this new phase, with the ambition of developing the full potential of the brand in Italy”.
The project centres on the Canter and eCanter range: the former belongs to the 6-10 tonne commercial vehicle segment, where it is recognised for versatility and reliability, while the latter is its fully electric version. Vehicles intended for the European market are produced at the Tramagal plant in Portugal. In Italy, Fuso can already rely on an established vehicle parc, an aftersales business that generates significant turnover, hundreds of active service contracts and a sales and service network spread across the country. The new company intends to build on this asset base while ensuring continuity for customers and dealers.
The development plan includes a selective dealer network, stronger aftersales coverage, direct management of strategic customers and support for public tenders. Particular attention will be paid to sectors in which the Canter is a leading player, such as urban distribution and environmental services, where the vehicle’s compact dimensions make it suitable for operations in historic centres and urban settings. Maurelli Group is an Italian company active in the automotive spare parts and assistance market, as well as fleet services, while Gruppo Telese operates in the rental, sale and servicing of industrial and commercial vehicles. With Fuso Italia, the two groups continue a joint path in representing international manufacturers on the Italian market, which began with Ford Trucks and continued with Karsan.
