Lufthansa Cargo’s summer 2026 schedule came into effect on 29 March 2026, bringing a series of changes covering destinations, frequencies and network structure. The German carrier is focusing on flexibility and reliability as competitive levers, supported by a fleet of 18 B777F aircraft for long-haul operations and four A321F for short- and medium-haul routes within Europe and to Africa. In total, the summer schedule offers 87 weekly flights to up to 35 destinations worldwide.
The Asian market remains a priority, with up to 48 weekly connections covering 17 destinations. Among the key developments, the transpacific route from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, via Shanghai to Los Angeles has been increased by one frequency, bringing it to two rotations per week. Lufthansa Cargo notes that it is currently the only carrier able to offer main-deck capacity on the route from Vietnam to China. From May, New Delhi will return to the cargo network with a weekly service, bringing total flights to the Indian market to six.
The Americas are connected to Frankfurt with 33 weekly services, across eleven destinations in North America and four in South America. Planned enhancements include an additional frequency to Toronto (YYZ). In Europe and Africa, the four A321F aircraft provide 33 weekly connections, with services to Rome (FCO) and Algiers (ALG) — operating since February with a weekly frequency — forming part of an increasingly diversified offering through the Frankfurt and Munich hubs.
On the network structure side, one of the most significant developments is the expansion to six European hubs: Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Brussels, Rome and, prospectively, Zurich. The latter will be enabled by deeper cooperation with Swiss Worldcargo, leading to commercial and operational synergies and a harmonised portfolio of products and services between the two carriers. Customers of both airlines will therefore gain access to one of the most extensive networks in the sector.
Lufthansa Cargo’s offering is further complemented by belly capacity provided by Lufthansa Group airlines, totalling up to 7,500 weekly flights to more than 350 destinations operated by Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Ita Airways, Lufthansa City Airlines and SunExpress. With the new summer schedule, Lufthansa City Airlines also joins the belly capacity portfolio, enabling a faster response to demand fluctuations.
On long-haul routes, Lufthansa Airlines is increasing frequencies on several services from Frankfurt: five weekly flights to St. Louis and Cape Town, six to Rio de Janeiro and Raleigh/Durham, and a daily service to Nairobi. Washington will be served twice daily, while Minneapolis will return with three weekly flights from April. Munich will maintain three weekly frequencies to São Paulo and Johannesburg. Ita Airways is introducing two daily flights to London Heathrow, linking the UK with the new Rome hub. From June, Brussels Airlines will add two weekly services to Kilimanjaro International Airport and increase frequencies to Freetown to six per week. Discover Airlines is launching year-round service to the Seychelles and increasing flights to Las Vegas to five per week. Austrian Airlines is resuming daily flights to Los Angeles and introducing a daily service to Tokyo Narita. SunExpress, meanwhile, is expanding its presence in the German and UK markets with further frequency increases.
