In a post on the social network Facebook, the Campania-based transport company Torello announced on the morning of 5 March 2026 the death of its founder Nicola. The message states that Nicola Torello was “a man of authentic values, deeply connected to his roots, to family and to work. He built much more than a company: he traced a path made of dedication, respect and shared vision. His example will continue to live in the generations who followed him and in the history of our community. Safe travels, ‘General’!”.
Nicola Torello was born in 1943 in Montoro, in the province of Avellino, and after his first experiences in road haulage decided to start his own business. In 1975 he founded his road transport company. The initiative began on an extremely small scale: a single truck driven personally by the founder and a family-based structure. That enterprise formed the original nucleus of what would later become the Torello Group, an operator active in logistics and international transport.
The company’s growth developed progressively throughout the 1980s and 1990s, in parallel with the expansion of road freight flows between Italy and Europe. The initial development model was based on two main elements: strong territorial roots in Campania and the gradual establishment of direct relationships with industrial clients and large-scale retail operators. During this period, the fleet and the company’s organisation gradually expanded, while the business evolved from a small artisanal operation into a structured freight transport company.
An important step in the company’s history came in 1992, when his children Umberto, Concetta and Antonio Torello joined the business. Over time they assumed operational and financial responsibilities, while the founder maintained a central role in guiding the company. During the 2000s the firm expanded its scope and consolidated its international presence.
In 2007 the company TN Logistica SK was established in Bratislava, with the aim of strengthening operations in Eastern Europe and reinforcing the group’s logistics network. Two years later, in 2009, TN Service was also created, a network of workshops dedicated to the maintenance and servicing of commercial and industrial vehicles used by the group and by external operators. Over time the business evolved from simple road haulage into an integrated logistics operator. Alongside its vehicle fleet, the group developed warehousing infrastructure and services linked to supply chain management.
