At the beginning of December 2025, Man Truck & Bus Italia delivered to Koinè the first two eTGX electric tractor units destined for the logistics operations of the Sanpellegrino Group. The delivery marks the launch of a multi-year plan that foresees the introduction of up to fifty electric vehicles, powered by energy generated by new photovoltaic systems that Koinè will install at its depots. The new trucks will be deployed on routes between Sanpellegrino production sites and the depots in Madone and Levate, covering a total of 250,000 km per year. Their range and high-power charging capability allow the vehicles to be integrated into daily operations without changes to flow planning, with the aim of reducing the emissions footprint of short-haul activities.
Koinè is thus continuing a path started in recent years with the use of lower-impact fuels, including HVO, and is introducing a model based on self-generated energy. The new logistics hub in Levate will be able to generate up to 5 MW, a volume sufficient to support the future electrification of up to one third of the fleet over three years. The decision reflects current challenges in the sector, including limited incentives, a public charging network that is not yet adequate, and the need to verify vehicle range in complex operational scenarios.
The Sanpellegrino Group considers the initiative part of a long-term journey involving the entire supply chain. According to Nestlé Waters’ logistics management, tests on the Ruspino–Madone and Levate routes will make it possible to assess the contribution of electric vehicles in reducing emissions while maintaining operational performance. Collaboration with technology and logistics suppliers is seen as a decisive factor in anticipating the evolution of the supply chain towards more responsible models.
The charging infrastructure was defined with the contribution of Moon Power Italia, the Volkswagen Group Italia brand dedicated to business solutions. The energy consultancy, developed together with Man Transport Solutions, outlined a charging system tailored to Koinè’s needs and designed for future expansion, within a framework that calls for scalable and integrated solutions linking energy generation, vehicles and logistics flow management.
The two Man eTGX 20.544 4x2 LL SA EB tractor units are equipped with a Man eCD400 electric motor rated at 400 kW, delivering 1,250 Nm of torque, and feature six battery packs with a total gross capacity of 534 kWh. The contract includes five years of maintenance and extended warranty, as well as Man DigitalServices dedicated to fleet management and real-time monitoring of operational indicators.
