A strategic initiative for the sector of exceptional transport and project loads is set to take shape within some of the world’s leading logistics exhibitions. Messe München, organiser of transport logistic, and Heavy Lift & Project Forwarding International (HLPFI) have unveiled, just ahead of the Munich fair, a new global platform aimed at giving greater visibility to a sector in continuous expansion: project cargo.
The announcement was made jointly from Munich and London. Starting in autumn 2025, international events within the transport logistic network will feature an exhibition area entirely focused on the transport of oversized, non-standard and heavy cargo. The initiative, named project cargo, will make its debut in Singapore (29–31 October 2025), followed by stops in Miami (11–13 November 2025), Mumbai (25–27 February 2026), Shanghai (24–26 June 2026), Istanbul (November 2026) and Nairobi (February 2027).
The project cargo segment is a vital part of the global logistics chain, yet too often it remains on the sidelines of major trade events focused on transport. This new platform seeks to change that by creating both a physical and symbolic space where industry professionals can meet, exchange ideas and promote innovative solutions. The aim is ambitious: to transform transport logistic fairs into key reference points for exceptional transport as well, providing a meeting ground for specialists in heavy and out-of-gauge handling and operators in road, rail, sea and air transport. It is a valuable opportunity to develop synergies and tackle the challenges of oversized cargo management through an integrated approach.
The introduction of project cargo areas within transport logistic events marks a significant step towards the international recognition of a highly specialised segment, often tied to strategic sectors such as energy, infrastructure, heavy industry and construction. The logistics involved in large-scale plants and oversized machinery demands advanced expertise, tailor-made solutions and a reliable global network of contacts. The initial editions, scheduled for 2025 and 2026, will serve as a crucial testing ground to assess the project’s ability to attract a qualified audience and international operators.
